And now...The East

So I’m back again, this time reviewing the Eastern Division. Hopefully with fewer teams in this division, my ADD won’t cause me to be less specific with the needs and want with each team. So why delay, let’s get this going

The Hamilton Tiger Cats
The Ti-cats, as Austin would say it “Were in cap hell”. It is really difficult to say as to what free agent that they are going to go after. Compared to management in previous years, Austin has been really smart where the Free agent money will be going to. Under the assumption that Ted Laurent will not be a Tiger cat (which I think would be a horrible move for the Cats), and the departure of Erik Harris, it would not surprise me to see Austin go towards the defensive side of the team. I would expect Austin to go hard for a linebacker or at least someone on the line. With the addition of John Chick, I would expect a linebacker. If Steinhauer and crew are willing to scheme correctly they can work in Alex Hoffman-Ellis. A crew of Ellis and Lawrence would drive offenses crazy in my opinion. If they were to venture to the offense for free agency, it would be for some receiver help. With Sinkfeld down south and Fantuz likely not returning, a guy like Shamawd Chambers or even Ryan Smith would fit in well there.

The Toronto Argonauts
The Toronto Argonauts are difficult to process. Jim Barker’s way has always been recruit, recruit, and recruit. While there may be some depth signings, if the Argos were to dip into Free agency, I expect an experienced defensive back and a nice receiver to compliment the trip of Elliot, Hazelton, and Gurley. Maybe even a combination of Tyron Brackenridge (highly unlikely) and Andy Fantuz

The Ottawa REDBLACKS
Last year the Redblacks…ummm…REDBLACKS made a significant difference through free agency. They had a lot of holes to fill. Although they still have some holes, none of which would be filled by what is available through free agency. With the expectation of Shologan, Cappicciotti if they don’t add special teams guys like Graig Newman, and Don Unamba, they might be in the running for National Ted Laurent.

The Montreal Alouettes
Jim Popp, since Calvillo stopped playing, has gone more towards the spending in Free Agency route. With that, his recruit ability (although still good) has gone by the wayside. IF the Als do dip into free agency, as history has indicated, older experienced veterans would be the people that they would target. Guys like Jeff Keeping, Brackenridge, Chris Getzlaf and possibly Andrew Harris.
After re reading everything, it seems that my in depth analysis was as in depth as I would have liked it to be. I guess it goes to show that perhaps there’s no rhyme or reason why a player signs with a specific team, but rather perhaps, the team with more money and success would likely win out.
I’ll be back when I figure out something else to rant about
Cheers.
